There is a reciprocal, mutual relationship between work and health: on the one hand, having and doing a job has a negative effect (e.g. accidents at work, occupational diseases, etc.) but equally a positive effect (e.g. social contacts, personal growth and salary, etc.) on someone's health, but conversely, someone's health (or the lack thereof) can have an impact on employment (e.g. fewer job opportunities because of chronic illness, disability, etc.). Prevention and reintegration are both crucial to keep employees healthy and safe at work. More and more people drop out -early- because of musculoskeletal complaints and mental problems. (Recent figures from the NIHDI report more than 500,000 people in long-term illness (>1 year)). With more targeted (organisational) interventions, we wish to keep employees healthy and with enthousisam at work and have them return to work as soon as possible.
