Het Pirenne Consortium bestudeert de middeleeuwen, over de grenzen van disciplines en faculteiten heen. Als collaboratief onderzoekslab en kenniscentrum focust het op cross-cultureel onderzoek en op de dialoog tussen het verleden en vandaag. Via co-creatie met partnerinstellingen en het brede publiek zet het zich in voor historisch begrip van cultuurdiversiteit, een beter ontsluiten van regionaal erfgoed en digitalisering.
