Het 'Behave Lab' bestudeert variabiliteit in sociaal en antisociaal gedrag vanuit bio-culturele en ecologische evolutionaire perspectieven. Het doel is om menselijke variatie in antisociaal gedrag te bestuderen op het kruispunt van meerder complementaire disciplines. Er wordt vertrokken van het idee dat een meer volledig beeld verkregen wordt door tegelijkertijd aandacht te hebben voor de vier grote onderzoeksvragen (zoals destijds door Tinbergen beschreven) van gedrag: (1) mechanismen, (2) ontologische ontwikkeling, (3) fylogenie en (4) evolutie (biologisch en cultureel).
