Description
The research group Authorship Studies (RAP) aims to re-examine material conditions and historical views of literary authorship in the light of recent theoretical developments concerning authorship, authority and agency, such as the theory of cultural performance and performativity. The group has taken as its starting point the gap between a ‘strong’ concept of authorship (agency, creativity and intellectual ownership) and a ‘weak’ concept (authorship as a product of cultural networks). Yet, it is not dedicated solely to charting concepts of authorship from a history-of-ideas perspective; rather, it aims to write a history of discourses and media.
