Description
The Centre for Anthropological Research on Affect and Materiality (CARAM) offers a forum to humanities and social sciences researchers applying the methodology of ethnographic fieldwork and employing the central concepts of sociocultural anthropology. The centre promotes studies utilizing participant observation to obtain a detailed and intimate understanding of the context of social action and relations. With affect and materiality as pivotal concepts, CARAM adds theoretical vibrancy to the ongoing debates on culture, identity, religion, ethnicity, art and agency. Exchanging knowledge on different regions of the world in past and present is in our view key to advancing anthropology, the study of human diversity.
