‘Parenting is a joint effort’ is an initiative by researchers at Ghent University, launched in 2025. Based on the belief that parenting is never an individual task but a shared responsibility, we bring people together to discuss parenting.

We make up-to-date, scientifically grounded insights on topics such as parenting, childcare, early years education and parental leave accessible and understandable to a wide audience.

In this way, we aim to inform, inspire and facilitate dialogue between parents, carers, professionals in the welfare sector and policymakers. We always base our work on reliable scientific evidence and adhere to one central principle: the best interests of the child.
