The HUPO-PSI defines the widely used community standards (including data formats, controlled vocabularies, and minimal reporting requirements) for the field, and this to improve reproducibility, interoperability, and exchange of MS and proteomics data (Deutsch et al., J. Proteome Res. 2023). I have, for example, co-developed mzSpecLib, a new file format for spectral libraries, ProForma 2.0, a standardized notation for modified peptides or proteins (LeDuc et al., J. Proteome Res. 2022), and the Universal Spectrum Identifier, a multi-part identifier to support important MS identifications in manuscripts by unambiguously and directly linking out to the specific spectrum in online repositories (Deutsch et al., Nat. Methods 2021).
