Project description

In this doctoral research a new and sustainable two-stage heterotrophic-autotrophic fermentation process for bioplastics (PHA) production using industrial organic and inorganic wastes as substrate will be developed and optimized. This research mainly focuses on process technical aspects, being reactor design, operation and control. A combination of experimental work, mathematical modelling and simulation is applied in view of process optimization.
