This application concerns basic funding for research in laryngology, situated within the Department of Head and Skin, and in collaboration with the research group CESLAS, with Prof. d'Haeseleer as the lead for research in transgender voice surgery.

The primary aim is to continue and expand the previously acquired BOF project funding and to partially execute the non-granted FWO project 'Outcome Determinants of Glottoplasty in Transgender Women'.

Using MRI and laser scanning, anatomical determinants of the outcomes of transgender voice surgery will be mapped. The goal is to publish sufficient preliminary results to increase the likelihood of securing a regular project grant or a doctoral scholarship.
