Project description

The aim of this research project is to bring legal and conceptual clarity on how to identify a 'chilling effect' in relation to freedom of expression as guaranteed under Article 10 of the European Human Rights Convention. Apart from an in depth analysis of the case law in Europe and the US, interviews and surveys will be conducted with actors involved in the decision making processes on freedom of expression and in practising freedom of the press.
