Project description

I have chosen a relatively abstract title, as suggested in the instructions. This still leaves room for a specific use of the funds, which will depend on opportunities concerning available personnel, additional funding (e.g., the FWO project I just applied for) etc., and the specific needs in the coming months and years. I understand that residual funds that are not spent by the end of the period will be returned to the BOF, but am confident that I will be able to put them to good use. I very much appreciate the trust that is implied by this funding scheme.

My lab’s interests revolve around the concepts of motivation, effort, cognitive control and attention, and we consistently use a combination of simultaneously-recorded EEG and pupillometry to gain a deeper process-level understanding of these concepts. This is also witnessed by our steady output of high-quality scientific publications on these topics. The present funding will help to continue and extend these research efforts.
