Project description

The volcanic centrums of Methana and Santorini (Aegean Arc) are dominted by calc-alkaline and tholeiitic deposits, respectively, and provide a unique opportunity to investigate the origin of these trends. The relative importance of crustal contamination, polybaric crystal fractionation and magma mixing will be assessed by petrographic studies and analyses of whole rocks for major and trace elements, and radiogenic isotopes.
