Project description

The objective of this project is the geometrical study of symmetry and reduction of Lagrangian systems. In particular, attention will be focused on Routh reduction and Routh reduction in stages. The influence of symmetries on the stability of certain solutions will be studied. Finally, extensions to systems with dissipation and with non-holonomic constraints will also be considered.
