Project description

Synthesis of sugar and sphingosine modified alpha-galactosylceramide (KRN 7000) analogues as NKT cell agonists capable of inducing a Th1-polarised cytokine response. The proposed modifications intend to establish an improved binding affinity to the antigenpresenting CD1d protein, which should result in a bias towards a Th1 respons, as well as an improved aqueous solubility.
