This project investigates the status of literary texts and its implications on the conceptualization of agency in Edward Said’s criticism. By submitting Said’s contrapuntal approach to a close rhetorical reading, this project analyzes the incorporation and application of the intertexts Said draws upon and their foundational influence on the status of literature and the correlating view on agency.
