Project description

Unfortunately the medical imaging community today is not optimally making use of colour and multi-dimensional information.

This research project will significantly improve this situation. The basic technology that will be developed in this project covers the entire imaging chain starting with acquisition device over image processing to visualization and finally (clinical) validation and standards.

At iMinds side all universities from Flanders are joining forces and bringing in expertise on various technical domains because they believe in the social relevance of this project. Cancer and chronic diseases will be more easily traced, tumors beter located for surgical procedures and drug discovery will be stimulated.

In summary, the goal of this project is to realize significant technology advances that will enable the use of real color and multidimensional images in medical imaging and generate benefits for society. This is a (relatively) new field and we are confident that we will be able to really make a difference and advance the state-of-the-art.
