Project description

This project will investigate energy recovery from domestic wastewater through polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). Following the principle of microbial resource management (MRM), we will research the processes and interactions within PHA-producing microbial communities and develop tools to steer community processes for a reliable PHA production. We will explore anaerobic digestion (AD) as a means of transforming PHA-rich waste into biogas as a fuel for electricity generation.
