Project description

The Late Glacial and Early Holocene are characterised by numerous climatic fluctuations. This project aims to study the changes in human behaviour and natural environment (vegetation, fauna, hydrology, ...) and their relationship with these climatic fluctuations during this transition period at the end of the last ice age.  The research will mainly focus on the Meuse Valley, where high-resolution climatic data is available through ongoing speleothem research.  The project aims at a detailed study of stone artefacts (technology, use-wear, residue analysis, raw material analysis, ...) and plant remains from this period, coupled with extensive dating research (14C).
