Project description

The surface water balance of Lake Tana basin has been investigated to a certain extent. However, the basin groundwater water balance is hardly studied. Understanding the groundwater system, its interaction with the surface water bodies and quantifying the different water balance components, on which more than 3 million of the population depends, is crucial for the better management of the water resources. The study is part of the ongoing Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) project with Bahir
Dar University. However, due to the impact of COVID-19 and security problems in the area, the progress of this project has been affected.
