Project description

The innovation objective of the ECO2Chape research project is to disrupt the flooring industry by creating a high-performance, eco-efficient screed. This ambitious goal will be achieved through two transformative approaches: (i) designing performance-based screed binders that substantially lower the carbon footprint, and (ii) maximizing the valorisation of waste (minimising waste disposal) by integrating recycled concrete materials and by-products into the granular skeleton and binder system of screeds. This innovation enhances: the product, by creating a sustainable and circular screed composition; the process, by devising novel pre-treatment methods for secondary materials; and the service, by offering a sustainable, high-performance solution in the screed industry.
