Project description
This research focusses on several problems from plant breeding which can be expressed in a mathematical model (e.g. using graphs) and which are suited for combinatorial optimisation. Among others, algorithms are developed for the selection of representative core subsets sampled from large plant collections, for the optimisation of crossing schedules using genetic markers and for the creation of heterotic pools.
