Project description
Liquid crystals can be oriented with an electric field or by illumination with an intense laser beam. By illumination with a structured laser beam, it is possible to define a three-dimensional pattern of torques. The reoriented liquid crystal can be used in different applications. For strong beam intensities, additional non-linear interaction with the illumination occurs.
