Project description

This research project will study the topography and the built environment of suburban areas of late medieval Ypres, the relationship with its centre and the abandoned area’s evolution through time. This well-preserved site will make a significant contribution to the international debate of subaltern areas in medieval towns. An interdisciplinary approach including archaeological, geophysical and historical data will be used.
