Project description

This project aims for an extensive cultural analysis of the Ooghen-troost (1647) by the Dutch poet Constantijn Huygens. The poem will be analysed at the cross-roads of a number of contemporary debates on religion, philosophy, aesthetics and natural science. It also argues for a renewal of the method of literary history and relfects upon the special visual experience of the reading of literary texts.
