Project description

N2O is emitted from agricultural soils by denitrifying and nitrifying soil microorganisms. The soil pore space strongly controls these emissions, as denitrification and denitrification occur in the presence or absence of O2, respectively. In this post-doctoral research we will investigate the influence of the soil pore structure onto the emissions of N2O via an innovative combination of X-ray microtomography, isotopomere techniques and qPCR analyses.
