This research project aims to improve the efficiency of state of the art algorithms for video coding, in order to reduce the high computational demands of current and future video codecs and formats. Encoding as well as adaptation (transcoding) processes are tackled in this project, with a focus on high definition (HD) video and the H.264/AVC standard.
