Trade shock and dependence on primary export represents a major challenge for developing countries sustained and beneficial integration into the global economy. Studies on whether and how terms of trade and its volatility affect economic growth is inconclusive in the literature, particularly for such category of countries and for Africa. This research project, therefore, analyses the effect of terms of trade and its volatility on economic growth in Africa and their potential to provide guidelines for development policies at the governmental level.
