Project description
Drawing on an in-depth qualitative case study of the blood economy in Flanders, this research project explores different socio-cultural, techno-scientific and commercial settings and material-semiotic practices involved in the donation and globalized circulation of blood and blood products. The research aims to articulate multiple meanings, performances and values of donated blood, and to analyze the political mechanisms that coordinate this ontological multiplicity.
