Project description
The aim of this project is to develop a novel, multi-arm catheter for intraperitoneal drug delivery to treat patients with peritoneal metastases. This innovated design would allow:
Better spatial drug distribution (increases the surface exposure); Prolonged, low dose (metronomic) chemotherapy administration; To avoid intraperitoneal instillation of large volumes, thus avoiding side effects (pain, bloating) and reduce the incidence of resistance development. Therefore, when the proposed catheter design proves to be superior in terms of anticancer efficacy, we expect that significant patient numbers may benefit from this novel device.
