Project description
This study investigates concessive conditionals (CCs) from a typological perspective. CCs are complex sentences that express that the main clause is true regardless of circumstances, even if they are unexpected or otherwise extreme. The structural properties of these constructions are compared in a sample of languages from different macro-areas and language families. This way, we investigate which properties are universal.
