This project aims to study the widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) in marine sediments and their impact on benthic fauna. By quantifying and characterizing MPs along the Atlantic coast and by performing laboratory experiments, the project aims to understand their sequestration in sediments and the effects of ingestion by benthos. Limited research currently exists on this topic, making this study crucial in addressing the gap in knowledge.
