The promotor conducts research aimed at improving the welfare, diagnostics, and treatment of small mammals, particularly rabbits and rodents. These species are generally considered "minor species," or in other words, "economically less significant," which makes it generally more difficult to secure funding for research in this field. The requested funding enables the execution of smaller projects—in collaboration with veterinary medicine master's students or small mammal specialists in training—that have a direct impact on the (clinical) practice situation of these animal species.
