According to Article 14 of the AI Act , high-risk AI systems must be designed and developed, including appropriate human-machine interface devices, in such a way that they can be effectively supervised by natural persons during the period of their use. Human supervision is aimed at preventing or reducing the risks to health, safety or fundamental rights that may arise when a high-risk AI system is used.
Given that many applications of AI within healthcare are considered high-risk, human oversight of AI applications will be necessary within healthcare.
This research will look at what legal responsibilities there are for those charged with this human oversight within health care and how this human oversight within health care can be legally properly organized.
