I focus on developing new research methods (building on quantitative and qualitative methods from other disciplines) for collecting empirical data on morally relevant content. A concrete example includes elicitation techniques for examining moral reasoning. On a meta-ethical level, I work on the integration of empirical data and normative analyses, addressing the question, 'What is the value of empirical data for normative ethical reflection?'

I apply these methods in research on the ethics of reproduction, families, and care for chronically ill individuals, focusing on attitudes and the normative content of decisions made by professionals and laypeople (e.g., negotiations and agreements regarding parenthood in alternative family formations) and the associated conceptual analyses of, among other things, (relational) autonomy, duties, and responsibility.

With the basic funding, I aim to prepare new projects and continue internal and external collaborations.
