This project seeks to go beyond the dominant view in the literature that continues to assume that there still is an East-West geospatial and geopolitical divide between the West, and Western Europe in particular, and the East, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, in particular. By drawing on insights from decolonial scholarship,  it will explore several manifestations of geospatial and geopolitical identity in Eastern Europe and Central Asia that show how this East-West divide is outdated, counterproductive and no longer applicable.
