Project description
The research of the Metabolic Engineering (MEMO) group of the Ghent University's Centre for Synthetic Biology is situated at the forefront of industrial biotechnology, metabolic engineering and synthetic biology. We focus on the development of standardized, automatable, and generic tools and technologies and the creation of fundamental knowledge on key metabolic processes, envisioning a considerable reduction in the cost of biotechnological production processes and the acceleration of their development. The ultimate goal is to apply these innovative tools, technologies and knowledge for the development of sustainable bioprocesses for the production of specialty carbohydrates, natural products and biomaterials.
