In this metahistorical project, we examine the meanings given to the memories of the Spanish Civil War and dictatorship, and we evaluate the influence of the recent ‘memory boom’ on the democratisation process in Spain. We therefore investigate in what way massgrave exhumations and the organisations for the recuperation of Civil War memory and dictatorship have an impact on the historical and political consciousness of the ‘post-memory generation’.
