Project description
This project investigates how feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) exploits intestinal environmental factors to establish infection in its target cells (enterocytes). The roles of host serine proteases and bacterial sialidase will be defined in viral entry and the FCoV receptor will be identified. The results will give new insights in the viral adaptation to the gastrointestinal environment and support the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
