Histomonosis or blackhead disease represents a high unmet economic burden for the poultry industry (turkey and chicken). It is caused by the protozoan parasite Histomonas meleagradis. In the absence of preventive and therapeutic options for this disease, the goal of this project is to evaluate the safety and behavior of new drug candidates for this unmet need in veterinary medicine.
