Project description

Aberrant stomach motility and secretion contributes significantly to post-weaning diarrhoea in weaned piglets. The aim is to ameliorate gastric function by targeting two transient receptor potential channels, i.e. TRPA1 and TRPV1. Their expression and function in the epithelium of the foregut of
the pig will be documented and phytochemicals will be screened for modulatory potential using an ex vivo model.
