REcombinant human TSH is used in the treatment of hyperthyroid cats to stimulate thyroid uptake of 131I in order to potentialize treatment and allow a lower dosage of 131I to be used. Kideny function is evaluated through measurements of glomerular filtration ratio after treatment with 131I. Finally urinary markers are assessed as early predictors of renal damage.
