Project description

Amphibian Populations have a dramatic global downturn and globally threatened their survival. The infectious chytridiomycose ranavirose and play a key role. The fungus chytridiomycose has built a reputation of notorious killer amphibians. This disease is the worst infectious disease ever known regarding the number of species affected. Two fungi are responsible for this: Batrachochytrium and Batrachochytrium Salamandrivorans. To assess the impact of these diseases on the biodiversity of native amphibians start to examine the Agency for Nature and Forest with a risk analysis of chytridiomycose and ranavirose in Flanders. This surveillance is carried out at the University of Ghent by the team of An Martel and Frank Pasmans.
