783 Flemish dialect recordings from the 1960s–70s make up the collection ‘Voices from the past’. In order to make the contents accessible for the heritage and education sectors, a thematic annotation is of paramount importance. The current project aims to furnish 99 existing transcriptions with standardised search terms and make them accessible online for the larger public. A search tool will facilitate the efficient consultation of relevant passages about specific subjects (in audio- and text format). The digital transcriptions will be made available via www.dialectloket.be using IIIF. Via subtitles, the Voices from the Past -- which are increasingly difficult to understand for younger generations -- will therefore remain accessible in the future. This way, an important piece of cultural and linguistic heritage remains protected and preserved for actors from the heritage sector, the education sector, and the broader public.
