The Université Catholique de Bukavu (UCB) is a regional university, and to fulfill its responsibility as an academic institution for education and combining scientific research with its societal responsibility in the promotion of development and in finding solutions to social problems. In the context of institutional cooperation with Flemish universities via the Flemish Interuniversity Council - University Development (VLIR), UCB would develop a program to increase its expertise in solving postwar problems. Moreover, the university wants to use the existing human resources in order to develop a doctoral school for the local training of experts and academics.The program is formulated in thematic research in the fields of agriculture, economics and law, medicine. Each project also gives importance to academic education (academic staff) and professional training (social actors), the establishment of laboratories and the training of students in the hospital ofop landbouwterreinen.De first step (pre-partner project) is a preparation the program consists of the following activities: the establishment of a cooperation unit and conceiving and writing partner program.
