Project description

The glyoxylate cycle allows fat-to-sugar conversion in the nematode C. elegans and is necessary for its lifespan extension. We will study the glyoxylate cycle enzymes icl-1 and C08F11.14 in detail by looking at their expression dynamics and localization, checking their role in fat-to-sugar conversion and stress response, and the molecular mechanisms of lifespan extension via the synthesis of protective sugars.
