Project description

This Fire Safety Engineering research serves to develop methodology for reliable flame spread simulations in case of enclosure fire. A pyrolysis model is coupled to 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations of turbulent combustion. Flame spread over flat surfaces and in corners are examined. The following aspects are investigated:

• Turbulence model (unsteady RANS vs. LES);

• CFD mesh;

• Boundary conditions;

• Material properties.
