Inequities in health are a pervasive issue, largely driven by social determinants. While healthcare systems have the potential to buffer against these inequities, they sometimes inadvertently widen the gap, leaving vulnerable populations underserved. With this funding I would like to continue my work examining inequities in access to and quality of care within primary health settings, with a focus on community-based interventions as a strategy to close these gaps. I aim to explore new directions in this field, such as investigating the role of green care—such as nature-based interventions—in addressing health inequities. Green care holds promise for enhancing well-being and resilience especially among marginalized groups, potentially providing an accessible and inclusive form of support. By examining green care within community contexts, this research seeks to contribute innovative approaches to reducing health inequities and strengthening the role of primary care in fostering health equity.
