Project description
This research focuses on the early interaction of Flavobacterium columnare with the gill tissue of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and carp (Cyprinus carpio). Following the perfection of a experimental infection model through immersion challenge, the virulence of various field isolates will be typified. Following, the interaction of highly and low virulence isolates with the gill tissue will be examined aiming at identifying virulence markers.
