Project description

“With this project, we renovate the houses of 100 households in Ghent. Candidates will be unburdened and supported technically, financially, administrative and socially. Due to the renovations, the general quality of living of the households and of the neighbourhoods in our city are improving. By using a recurring fund, the public finance is not only used for a limited group, but can be used over and over again to fight this main urban challenge."

Role of Ghent University
Ghent University, and more specifically the research unit Equity in Health of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, will be responsible for the health dimension in the project. More specifically, this concerns aspects of health & wellbeing in the selection of the neighbourhoods, the development of health & welfare related indicators, and the evaluation of the project in terms of health & welfare of the target group. Additionally, they will assist the project with knowledge on the impact of housing on health, on the social and health profile of the neighbourhoods in Ghent, and with its large professional network in all neighbourhoods in Ghent.
