Project description
Julia Jerab is conducting research within a European biosecurity project, focusing on hand and boot hygiene in poultry and pig farms. She is mapping current hygiene practices, investigating which techniques are used, identifying pitfalls, and analyzing the support needs of livestock farmers. In addition, Julia is developing practical, science-based guidelines for boot hygiene based on experiments. Furthermore, through literature studies and supervision of master's students, she is critically evaluating other biosecurity measures, such as the animal-free period, with the aim of improving their effectiveness and applicability within the sector.
